Daikin Mini Chiller Systems Air cooled minichiller with Inverter
The Daikin Minichiller series dedicated to residential or small commercial applications , with nominal capacities from 5 kW to 13 kW, uses the inverter as a distinctive feature. The hermetic Swing compressor for sizes 005-007 kW and Scroll for the following ones 009-013 kW is driven by Inverter as well as the fans of the unit. High performance is therefore achieved at partial loads, control of the water delivery temperature at a fixed point, which can be used, for example, for radiant panel systems, and excellent acoustic performance at partial loads thanks to the simultaneous reduction of noise emission from both the compressor and of fan. The water content necessary for the correct operation of the unit is reduced thanks to the inverter, and can guarantee operation even without buffer tanks. The water-refrigerant exchanger is with brazed plates
Why the inverter ?
The inverter allows you to continuously modulate the power supplied by the compressor based on the thermal load requests, varying the number of revolutions of the same. This principle, compared to the traditional technology which divides the power into discrete steps of even high capacity, guarantees the final customer energy savings and better control of the operating parameters of the system. Most of the time, the cooling demand of a building is less than the maximum load capacity of the system. The larger the variations in yearly load, the more vital it is to ensure units are operating efficiently.
Energy Saving Absorption proportional to the power supplied
The Inverter offers, for the chiller as a whole, the possibility of significantly increasing its efficiency at partial loads, i.e. the condition in which, seasonally, the chiller will work for most of the time, guaranteeing the best performance and reaching high values average seasonal summer yield ( ESEER ).
Ideal temperature Continuous regulation of power and noise
The ability to work in modulation offers the guarantee of accurate control of the fluid temperature, regulated at a fixed point on the delivery to the system. This feature is ideal from the point of view of industrial application and precision temperature control, as it excludes the constant stops/starts of the compressors, responsible for electrical and mechanical wear. A further advantage is represented by the lower acoustic impact when compressors and fans operate partialised, i.e. in conditions of lower demand for power supplied, while ensuring greater stability for the water temperature.
Lower Plant Costs Reduction of water accumulation/content of the plant (-60%)
Thanks to the ability to react quickly to load variations, chillers that use Inverter technology can work correctly with a strong reduction in the water content in the system (-60% compared to traditional chillers). This makes it possible to reduce thermal inertia, with energy optimization and shorter start-up times. This results in a significant saving in system costs as the accumulation tank is no longer necessary.
Electrical advantages
From an electrical point of view, the Inverter introduces two great advantages:
Low inrush currents, considerably lower than the rated operating current, which results in a lower cost for the supply of electrical components to be installed
More power available when needed
The inverter allows you to vary the power supplied; by feeding the compressor at a higher frequency it is possible to reach maximum power values higher than the nominal ones. This offers benefits in bringing the system up to speed but, above all, becomes an evident technical plus when the machine works in extreme operating fields. For example, traditional air-cooled heat pumps are usually combined with boilers to compensate for the efficiency deficit due to cold outside temperatures. Inverter heat pumps can benefit from greater power when ambient conditions require it, losing only 15% of output in the passage from 7°C to -10°C of external air (in the case of an ON-OFF the reduction would be ~40%), guaranteeing a water temperature of 50°C at all regimes. These advanced heat pumps can therefore be considered "primary", as they make it possible to avoid the use of boilers.
Scroll compressor
Scroll compressors have two scrolls, one remains stationary while the other orbits eccentrically without rotating. Designed for small and medium capacities, they guarantee constant reliability and high efficiency throughout their operational life
Characteristics
- Simple, compact and robust
- Absence of valves and swing joint mechanisms, to ensure maximum reliability
- Constant compression, to ensure a low level of energy consumption
- Increased compression efficiency due to the absence of volumetric expansion
- Low sound level
- Low starting current
- The Scroll compressor lends itself to the use of the Inverter, as on the range up to 13 kW, being able to guarantee high ESEER values, absence of peak and precise control of the outlet water temperature
Advantages:
› Extraordinary part load efficiency
› Inverter technology to ensure low noise and best-in-class ESEER values
› Wide operating range
› Integrated hydronic systems
› Easy “plug and play” installation
› Single-phase power supply for residential applications, three-phase power model available for small commercial applications
