Green function

Function that maximizes energy savings. The water heater works exclusively in heat pump mode, heating domestic water up to 62°C

Boost function

Function that reduces the heating times of the water heater to a minimum, increasing sanitary comfort. The machine works simultaneously in heat pump and electrical resistance, speeding up the heating of the water. Once the maximum operating temperature of the heat pump has been exceeded, the electrical resistance continues to heat up to the water set-point temperature.

Auto mode

Function that allows the best compromise between comfort and savings. The machine optimizes the heat pump and resistance activation logic.

Anti-legionella function

This function provides for automatic disinfection cycles. On a monthly basis, the machine starts a check and, if necessary, heats the sanitary water up to 65°C, keeping it at this temperature until any bacterial proliferation in the tank is destroyed.

Hourly scheduling of withdrawals

This is the function that allows you to program times and water temperatures to your liking. The water heater will reach the pre-set temperature at the preferred time (up to two times can be programmed): the process will give priority to heating via the heat pump and, only if necessary, will take place via the electric heaters.

The new NUOS heat pump water heaters were therefore born from research: efficient and capable of heating a large quantity of water using very little electricity, as they absorb the heat directly from the outside air.

The NUOS range of heat pump water heaters is available in both monobloc and split versions (i.e. with outdoor unit), which can be installed on the wall or on the floor and with capacities ranging from 80 to 300 litres. In new buildings the NUOS range can also be used as an alternative to solar thermal as a source of renewable energy.

Heat pump technology

The NUOS range uses a thermodynamic cycle to heat the water contained in the storage tank through the air sucked in by the heating unit, reversing the natural flow of heat. A refrigerant fluid (R134A), through changes of state and compression and expansion cycles, takes the heat contained in the air at a lower temperature and transfers it to the sanitary water at a higher temperature. This mechanism is the reverse of the one used in refrigerators. The electrical energy required by the product is only that necessary to operate the fan which captures the air and the compressor which circulates the refrigerant fluid in the circuit.

As required by national law, in new buildings it is necessary to satisfy at least 50% of the energy requirement used to heat sanitary water with renewable sources. (Legislative Decree n. 28 of 3 March 2011 based on the RES directive 2009/28/CE). The technology used in NUOS heat pump water heaters is an ideal choice to satisfy these legal obligations, representing an advantageous alternative to solar thermal . It is a valid answer even where there are installation limits due to a building that is not well exposed to the sun.

Thermal Energy Account

As an alternative to tax breaks, again in the event of replacing an electric water heater, the end user can request the incentive provided for by the Thermal Energy Bill, as a capital contribution. The incentive is paid by the GSE (Energy Services Manager) through bank transfer and corresponds to 40% of the expenses incurred for the purchase and expenses related to the installation, up to a maximum of € 400 in a single solution for the replacement of an electric water heater with a heat pump one with a capacity of up to 150 litres; for capacities exceeding 150 liters the refund is in one year if the value of the incentive is less than €600, in two years if it is greater than €600 (the maximum value of the incentive is €700). Considering the profiles of European regulatory requirements, it has been estimated that the annual energy consumption dedicated to the production of domestic hot water of a family of 3 is equal to 1,550 kWh /year.

Energy saving

It has been estimated that the installation of a NUOS 80 heat pump water heater allows a reduction of 480 kg/year of CO2 linked to the electricity production processes. The same effect would be obtained by the absorption of CO2 by 40 trees.
