Vaillant condensing boiler
With the strategic plan 20/20/20, Europe has the objective of producing 20% less CO2, using 20% more renewable energy and consuming 20% less primary energy. All this by 2020. To achieve these objectives, the EU has issued the ErP Directive (energy related products) which specifies the minimum eco-design requirements for equipment that uses energy, including energy efficiency.
The world of heating will also be affected by this revolutionary change. In fact, from 2015 the energy efficiency of boilers will be based on new performance indexes that will take into account seasonal performance. Among the most significant changes to the new methodology for measuring seasonal efficiency are the introduction of different nominal temperatures, operation also at partial loads and in standby mode. The new methodology will make it possible to evaluate the performance of a boiler in real conditions, based on the level of efficiency calculated over an entire year.
ecoTEC PLUS with boiler
Little space and a large family? ecoTEC plus with built-in wall-mounted boiler is the boiler designed to satisfy a high demand for hot water when spaces do not allow for the installation of external boilers.
The VMW ecoTEC plus with actoSTOR CL 20 S integrable storage tank are available in power ratings of: 30 and 34 kW.
This stratification boiler is a real hot water reserve that can be installed very easily and quickly directly between the wall and the boiler. An exceptional solution that ensures the quantity of water needed is always available and without sudden changes in temperature.
The boiler system with storage tank is very simple to assemble: first install the actoSTOR CL wall-mounted storage tank and the related pipes supplied for domestic water, then hang the ecoTEC plus VMW wall-mounted boiler on the storage tank. The dimensions are very small 70cm high, 44cm wide and 55cm deep.
The stratification storage tank guarantees the same performance as a storage tank with a 60-litre coil but with considerably reduced spaces. The combination with ecoTEC plus allows you to exclude the storage tank functionality by making the boiler work instantaneously; this allows a considerable saving on gas consumption.
New electronics and a very high efficiency pump make ecoTEC plus the wall-mounted condensing boiler that consumes less on the European market. ecoTEC plus is compatible with all Vaillant components and accessories already on the market. The new design is simple and intuitive.

How to be ready for new EU legislation
What will happen from 26 September 2015?
From this date it will no longer be possible to produce traditional forced draft boilers. Instead, it will be possible to continue producing condensing boilers and traditional open chamber boilers equipped with high-efficiency pumps and compliant with the new ErP requirements such as emission, noise and efficiency levels. In particular, the installation of traditional open chamber boilers will only be possible to replace old boilers installed in multi-family buildings which discharge the fumes into branched collective flues (CCR).
Products placed on the market before 09/26/2015 that do not comply with the requirements of the new directive, such as traditional forced draft boilers and boilers not equipped with a high efficiency pump, can still be purchased, sold and installed.
ErP and ELD: what do they mean and how are they different?
-
ErP : The EU has issued new obligations for Energy Using Products (ErP). The new directive, known as the Ecodesign directive, prescribes minimum efficiency requirements and emission limits for appliances that produce heating and domestic hot water. The Ecodesign directive is aimed at two categories of products relevant to installers and resellers in the sector:
- Category 1 Includes space heating appliances: electric, gas, oil, combined boilers, heat pumps and cogenerators up to 400 kW. - Category 2 Includes appliances for the production of domestic hot water: electric, gas, diesel, heat pumps for DHW, solar systems up to 400 kW and boilers up to 2000 litres.
-
ELD: in addition to the ErP directive, the EU has also introduced mandatory energy labeling for the same type of appliances up to 70 kW and boilers up to 500 litres. The energy labeling directive is called ELD and requires that new products and systems for heating and the production of domestic hot water are labeled with an indication of their energy efficiency class. By combining the products and components, for example by adding a temperature control unit, the energy classification of the system can be increased, which will be calculated by the installer and indicated on the package label.
Let's take a look at the new labels...
When and how will the new rules apply?
On 26 September 2015 the new rules will come into effect. Until then, neither manufacturers, retailers or installers have to comply with the new Ecodesign or labeling provisions. Once the new rules come into effect, manufacturers will only be able to manufacture products that comply with the new Ecodesign requirements, and will be required to supply an energy label with the products
Why push condensing technology right away?
For the energy requalification of individual homes, the 2007 Budget Law was extended until 31 December 2015. The request for a 65% tax deduction concerns, for example, the replacement of a traditional boiler with a condensing boiler.
What will Vaillant support be?
7 year guarantee
The 7-year guarantee on new boilers is another excellent reason to offer Vaillant to your customers. In addition, know that by replacing a Vaillant boiler over 15 years old with a new generation one, the warranty extension will be provided free of charge by the Vaillant Official Technical Assistance Center against a maintenance contract.
