Ferroli OMNIA M 3.2 Reversible heat pumps for outdoor installation with DC inverter compressor
A heat pump with silent and ecological efficiency
This series of air-to-water heat pumps with low environmental impact ecological gas R32 satisfies the winter and summer air conditioning needs of residential and commercial systems of small and medium power. All the units are suitable for outdoor installation and being able to produce water up to 65°C they can be used in radiant systems, fan coils, radiators and for the indirect production of DHW domestic hot water via an optional external boiler
The units are characterized by the use of a DC inverter compressor which allows the power supplied to be modulated and are complete with a hydronic kit made up of all the essential components for quick and safe installation. The units are characterized by high energy efficiency and low sound levels which allow them to be used as a single generator serving the system or integrated with other energy sources such as electric support heaters or boilers
All units are supplied as standard with a DHW tank water temperature probe and with an external air temperature probe, already installed on the unit, to carry out climatic regulation in heating and cooling. All units are carefully built and individually tested in the factory. The installation requires only the electrical and hydraulic connections. In a system it is possible to connect a maximum of 6 units in cascade; one of them will be “MASTER” while the others will be “SLAVE” units.
Refrigerant circuit
Contained inside the unit to facilitate maintenance operations, it is equipped with a compressor with a Twin rotary type DC Inverter motor to guarantee greater dynamic balancing and reduce vibrations. It is placed on rubber anti-vibration mounts and wrapped in a double layer of sound-absorbing material to reduce noise. The compressor is also equipped with a crankcase oil heater. The circuit is completed by a brazed stainless steel plate heat exchanger complete with antifreeze heater, axial fans with brushless DC motor complete with safety grilles, finned coil with anti-corrosion treatment made up of copper pipes and aluminum fins. All units are equipped with variable speed control of the fans which allows operation with low outside temperatures in cooling and high outside temperatures in heating
Hydraulic circuit
Contained inside the unit to facilitate maintenance operations, it is equipped as standard with a low-consumption circulator with brushless DC motor, water flow switch, automatic air vent, water pressure gauge, expansion tank, safety valve, Y-shaped water filter The plate heat exchanger and all the hydraulic circuit pipes are thermally insulated to prevent the formation of condensate and reduce heat loss
Air source The benefits offered by this technology
Aerothermal energy is the energy of the future. Ferroli aerothermal heat pumps use clean technology capable of obtaining up to 79% of the energy supplied for home comfort from the outside air. Ferroli aerothermal heat pumps are designed to provide cooling in summer, heating in winter and/or domestic hot water throughout the year. These latest generation heat pumps with inverter technology and the use of an ecological gas such as R32 do not produce heat from the combustion of a fuel but, simply with minimal energy consumption, exploit the energy in the air and transfer it to the inside the house
Greater efficiency
The OMNIA M 3.2 monobloc range has energy class A++ for the production of water at 55ºC and A+++ for the water produced at 35°C
Compact outdoor unit. More space available
Thanks to the adoption of a compact and small-sized unit, especially for the more powerful models, OMNIA M 3.2 can be easily placed outside the house, guaranteeing more available space inside
Quick and easy installation
Being a packaged unit, installation costs and times are significantly reduced. The interconnection of the refrigerant between the units is not necessary, as the entire refrigerant circuit is contained in the equipment, it is not even necessary to make a connection to bring the fuel, nor to create a flue gas evacuation duct. In addition, the device includes all the plumbing elements necessary for correct and quick connection to the plumbing and DHW heating system.
Ideal combination with low temperature systems
The OMNIA M 3.2 range can be easily installed in combination with low temperature systems, connecting fan coils, radiators, underfloor heating, to obtain maximum energy efficiency and maximum domestic comfort
Easy integration with an existing boiler
OMNIA M 3.2 can be combined and integrated with any boiler in the system. The control of the device, based on the external temperature and the required operating conditions, optimizes the production of heat for heating and DHW, using the device with the best efficiency
Production of hot water at 65°C with low external temperature
The OMNIA M 3.2 range is able to supply hot water at 60°C with an external temperature down to -15°C and at 40°C with an external temperature down to -25°C, without any type of support/accessory. With cold but positive temperatures OMNIA M 3.2 can produce hot water up to 65°C
Protection against freezing of hydraulic components without the need to add glycol
If low outside temperatures are detected, the circulation pump and the electric antifreeze heater of the plate heat exchanger are activated, thus preventing freezing of the hydraulic components. There is therefore no need to add glycol to the system
Control system Operating principle
The general control system allows monitoring of all the functions of the inverter system and of the correct functioning of the compressor. It also incorporates regulation algorithms using predefined climatic curves that can be selected by the customer, the management of a DHW circuit, the setting of time slots for noise reduction during the night, alarm signaling, pump block prevention and integration with external heat generators. The user interface consists of a wired remote controller which allows the management of:
Management of 2 distinct zones, direct + mixed The unit is able to manage the pumps of both zones and for the mixed in addition the mixing valve and water delivery temperature probe
Photovoltaic and Smart Grid management The management of a photovoltaic system and of the "intelligent grid" function is ensured by 2 digital inputs on the PCB with specific operating logics
Heating and cooling system The unit activates in hot or cold mode, works by modulating the frequency of the compressor to keep the water temperature produced at the setpoint value set via the controller
Domestic hot water production The unit activates in heating mode to maintain the temperature of a DHW tank at the set point value. A 3-way diverter valve is required (not supplied) and a temperature probe, supplied as standard, to be inserted in a well of the DHW boiler.
Additional energy sources These sources can be activated in Integration or replacement of the heat pump during heating service or for DHW production and in case the heat pump does not work.
Cascade management of several units Possibility of managing up to 6 units in cascade even with different powers with a single controller connected to the Master. In the event of an anomaly in one "Slave", the others can function normally
DHW tank electric resistance It is possible to manage a possible integration and/or reserve electric resistance and for the anti-legionella function
Fast DHW Function that can be activated manually which allows you to give priority to domestic hot water by bringing the DHW tank to the set point in the shortest possible time
Anti-legionella function Weekly anti-legionella cycles can be set. The heat pump must be integrated with a DHW boiler electric heater or boiler
Silenced mode 2 levels of silence are possible which, if active, according to an hourly programming, involve a reduction in the maximum frequency of the compressor and in the speed of the fan to reduce the noise emitted perhaps during the night and the power absorbed by the unit
ON/OFF The unit can be switched on and off via an external contact. It can be operated from the controller keyboard
Hot/Cold The unit can be switched on and off in cold and hot mode via 2 external contacts
ECO Possibility of defining time slots and related setpoint for ECO modes in hot and cold mode
Weekly programming Allows differentiated time programming for each day of the week by defining the working mode and setpoint for each band
Anti-freeze protection Guaranteed up to an external air temperature of -20°C thanks to the heat pump itself operating in hot mode, to the standard anti-freeze electrical resistance and to the electric booster if installed.
Remote control of the unit via APP Available for iOS and Android
